The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in 2009 with an intake of 120 students. In the modern world, Mechanical Engineering is central to many activities that lead to the creation of industrial and business wealth. Two main applications are energy conservation and conversion and transportation. A Mechanical Engineering course provides the core knowledge for a range of careers in these areas. Mechanical Engineering is also the basis on which other branches of engineering rely. We have very dedicated and experienced faculty members. We strives to train students in Engineering Sciences and in the application of these methods to conceive, organize and carry out the design of engineering systems. The department's professional programmes includes a deeper study of engineering sciences to which the students are introduced at the curriculum level, experimental solutions of the physical problems and techniques and methods of design of systems relevant to the contemporary world. It has well equipped laboratories in the fields of Elements of Mechanical Engineering.
In the programme the emphasis is on the development of the learning to learn skills, problem solving skills and other professional attributes by application and exposure of the concepts of real life problems of industry, institute and society. Laboratory experience is considered to be a very important part of the Mechanical Engineering Programme. There are course oriented laboratories where the student does experimental work leading to a better understanding of physical situations.
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering program is to provide quality education to students in the area of Mechanical Engineering so that they are qualified for professional work, theoretical as well as practical.
Mechanical Engineering program will blend the core and elective courses to give effective education to the students to offer. Knowledge of basic principles of science, mathematics and engineering which are fundamental to machine design, thermal engineering, materials, and manufacturing. Opportunities to develop the ability to apply basic principles of science, mathematics and engineering to identify, formulate and solve practical problems related to machine design, thermal science, materials and manufacturing through the use of computer technology.
